Nelson Mandela Birthday

Former South African President, Nelson Mandela, celebrating the birthday-93 on Monday, July 18, 2011. This Anti-apartheid fighter celebrate happy day with family at his childhood home in the town of Qunu.

According to the CNN news station, people in parts of South Africa also welcomed the anniversary of their charismatic leader with all sorts of activities. There are people doing public service for 67 minutes, according to Nelson Mandela's long years of dedicating himself to South Africa.

On Monday morning local time, the students sang 'Happy Birthday' before starting the lesson. The song was sung as a special birthday gift for Nelson Mandela.

A motorcycle group calling itself 'Bikers for Mandela' first celebrated by exploring South Africa on their saddle. Not just a bike ride, this group is doing some volunteer activities, such as painting the playground and planting trees. Their journey is scheduled to end on this day in Pretoria.

In recent years, Nelson Mandela rarely appeared in the media because of health reasons. He was the last time the media attended the closing ceremony observed the World Cup in South Africa in July last year.
